Terms of Use

Terms of Use.

The terms that apply when you use www.trenthos.com and Trenthos IME, our medico-legal chronology and document-indexing tool.

Effective
27 October 2026
Version
1.2
Applies to
www.trenthos.com and ime.trenthos.com

In short: Trenthos IME reads the file and builds a page-referenced chronology; you examine, form the opinion, and write and sign your report. Your case content is processed and stored in Australia, is used only to provide the service to you, and is never used to train AI models. Trenthos IME is new, so features may change as it develops.

About these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and Trenthos Pty Ltd (ACN 697 995 501) ("Trenthos", "we", "us", "our"). They apply to your use of the public website at www.trenthos.com (the "Site") and of Trenthos IME, our medico-legal chronology and document-indexing tool at ime.trenthos.com (the "Service").

By using the Site or the Service you agree to these terms. If you use the Service on behalf of a practice or other organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to accept these terms for it, and "you" includes that organisation.

These terms should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which covers personal information collected through the Site, and our Disclaimer, which applies to information published on the Site. If you have signed a separate written agreement with us for the Service, that agreement prevails over these terms to the extent of any inconsistency.

A developing service

The Service is a working product used on real files, and it is also still developing: we may add, change or withdraw features, adjust how chronologies are structured, and change the infrastructure the Service runs on, provided that case content continues to be processed and stored in Australia.

We aim to keep the Service available and to give you reasonable notice of changes that materially affect how you use it, but we do not guarantee any particular availability, response time or feature. The Trenthos IME documentation marks each capability as shipping, in build or planned; only shipping capabilities form part of the Service.

Who may use Trenthos IME

The Service is intended for registered health practitioners and other qualified assessors who prepare medico-legal reports in Australia, and for staff who work under their direction. Accounts are issued to individuals and must not be shared.

You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials and second factor secure, for activity under your account, and for telling us promptly at support@trenthos.com if you suspect anyone else has used it.

You remain the author of every report

The Service is a chronology and document-indexing tool. It reads the documents you supply and builds a page-referenced chronology for you to review. It does not examine anyone or form or express a professional opinion. Trenthos IME does not diagnose, treat, provide clinical opinion or make clinical decisions. Clinical judgement remains with the user.

  • You are responsible for the examination, the findings, the opinion and the final content of every report, and for checking the chronology against its source pages before you rely on it.
  • You are responsible for meeting the professional, ethical and legal obligations that apply to your report, including your professional code of conduct, any expert witness code of conduct, and the rules of the court, tribunal or scheme concerned.
  • Where a court, tribunal or scheme requires you to disclose the use of generative AI in preparing a report, making that disclosure is your responsibility. The Service keeps a record of its own use to help you do so, but it does not make the disclosure for you.

Your content

"Your content" means the letters of instruction, records, notes, findings and other material you upload, and the chronologies the Service generates from them. As between you and us, your content belongs to you or to the person who instructed you.

You confirm that you are permitted to upload your content and to have it processed by the Service for the purpose of preparing your report, including where material was produced to you subject to legal restrictions on its use. During a free trial, upload the brief through the secure link we send you; the brief is redacted before the chronology is built, as described on the Trenthos IME page.

How we handle your content

  • Purpose. We use your content only to provide the Service to you, to keep it secure and working, to support you when you ask for help, and to measure and improve the accuracy of chronologies, for example by recording which entries you add to or remove from your concise chronology.
  • No model training. We do not use your content to train AI models, and we do not sell it or share it for anyone else's purposes.
  • Onshore. Your content, including AI processing and text recognition, is processed and stored in Australia and is not sent offshore.
  • Security. Your content is encrypted in transit and at rest, and access to it is limited to what is needed to provide, secure and support the Service. If we become aware of unauthorised access to your content, we will tell you without undue delay.
  • Disclosure. We disclose your content only on your instruction or where we are required to by law.
  • Deletion of trial briefs. For trial briefs, the deletion terms in the trial undertaking apply.
  • Deletion for other accounts. We delete your content from the Service on request, except where the law requires us to keep it. Copies already held in our backups may persist after that deletion.

Fees

Fees are as set out in your plan or agreed in writing. Any free trial brief is agreed with you in writing before the work begins. Unless we say otherwise, fees include GST.

Acceptable use

You must not:

  • use the Site or the Service unlawfully, or to mislead a court, tribunal, insurer or any other reader of a report;
  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, to other users' accounts or content, or to the systems behind them;
  • interfere with the operation or security of the Site or the Service, or upload malicious code;
  • copy, decompile or reverse engineer the Service, or use it to build a competing product;
  • upload material you are not permitted to have processed in the way these terms describe.

Intellectual property

We own the Site, the Service and the software, designs, text and trade marks that make them up, and these terms give you a non-exclusive right to use them for their intended purpose while these terms apply. Your content remains yours, as set out in section 05. If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them to improve the Service without obligation to you.

Warranties and liability

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot be excluded.

Subject to that, and because you check the Service's chronology against the source pages before relying on it, the Service is provided as is. To the extent permitted by law, we exclude all other warranties, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability to you in connection with the Service is limited to the fees you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the claim arose or, where the law requires otherwise, to supplying the Service again or paying the cost of having it supplied again.

Suspension and ending

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these terms, if your use puts the Service or other users at risk, or if we stop offering the Service, and except in urgent cases we will give you reasonable notice first. When access ends, your content is handled as described in section 06, and on request made before access ends we will help you retrieve your chronologies where practicable.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The current version and effective date are shown at the top of this page. If a change materially affects how you use the Service, we will tell active users by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Queensland, Australia. You and Trenthos submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Queensland, and the courts of appeal from them, for any dispute arising out of or in connection with these terms, the Site or the Service.

If any provision of these terms is held to be invalid, illegal or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force and effect.
