Am I even allowed to use AI in a medico-legal report?
Yes - no Australian court, tribunal or scheme regulator bans it. What the 2025-26 instruments require instead is disclosure, verification and human accountability: the NSW Supreme Court requires leave before generative AI drafts report content, the Personal Injury Commission requires disclosure in the report with an annexure of prompts and settings, and the Federal Court requires disclosure at the start of the document. Trenthos IME records its own AI use and exports a disclosure annexure designed to satisfy those requirements. The full sourced map is in our article on what the rules actually say.
Does Trenthos IME replace the doctor?
No. It assembles and drafts; it does not examine, diagnose or opine. The examination findings and the medical opinion come from the reporting doctor, and the report only exists once that doctor has reviewed and signed it. Doctor in, doctor out.
Where does my data go?
Australia. Files are processed and stored in AWS ap-southeast-2 (Sydney) and are not sent offshore. Trial cases are de-identified and shared over a secure channel we set up - never as an email attachment - and files are deleted when the engagement ends. Our Privacy Policy is the source of truth.
Which schemes and report types?
Designed around the Australian workers-compensation schemes - WorkSafe Victoria, SIRA NSW, WorkCover Queensland, Comcare and the other jurisdictions - covering independent medical examinations, file reviews and supplementary reports. Motor-accident schemes such as the TAC are on the roadmap. If you work to a different scheme or format, ask: the structure is configurable per instruction.
How do I know the draft isn't making things up?
Every factual sentence carries a reference to the document and page it came from, so any claim can be checked in one click. Where the file is incomplete, the draft says so explicitly - "report sighted, images not reviewed" - rather than filling the gap. The demo above shows exactly how that looks.

Is it a registered medical device?
Trenthos IME is drafting software for a document that a doctor reviews and signs - it does not diagnose, treat or make clinical decisions. As with all our products, we monitor the TGA's guidance on clinical software and will say plainly if that position ever changes.
